all paypal have done is to protect themselfs against a chargeback regardless of the facts

And provide buyers with such protection that they don't feel the only avenue they have open to them, to resolve any dispute, is the police and the courts. If, as a seller, you are unable to accept that buyers are entitled to such protection, perhaps you aren't equipped to sell here.

Empty Box Scam
jack-of-heart5 (0 ) View Listings | Report 22-12-08 08:25 GMT
Watch out for the "Empty/Sardine Box" scam.
Paypal won't get involved.

Paypal state:
As stated in our User Agreement, the claims process only applies to the delivery of goods.
It does not apply to complaints about the attributes or quality of goods received. Therefore, we are unable to reverse this transaction or issue a refund.

Scam works as follows:

1) Buyer pays for an item, and Seller posts an empty box (or tin of sardines) - Signed For/Recorded Delivery.
Seller has proof of delivery.
Buyer is shafted.

2) Buyer pays for goods, Seller sends goods. Gods are delivered OK.
Buyer asks for refund, and sends EMPTY BOX ( or Tin of Sardines) back to Buyer (Signed For/Recorded Delivery). Buyer has proof of return delivery.
Seller is shafted.

It's a license for dishonest fraudulent traders to run riot.

never sold anything related to bikes before. The pictures are all ripped from web sites (watermarks!). The seller also specifies sea shipping (35-45 days). All up there are just too many things wrong with these auctions that I strongly believe they are fake - hacked account or something. I hope it is ok to list the seller here: gaogan73
search.ebay.com.au/_W0QQ...Zgaogan73QQhtZ-1

How should these be reported to ebay? Please help to stop people being scammed.

thescambaiter.com/forum has forums especially for ebay scam killers. In this situation I would suggest you PM the mod over there for those forums and let them know, they can take a look at them and they are very experienced at spotting these scams so they'll know right away if it is or not, and they'll also know who to contact at Ebay to sort it.. if ebay scam killing is something you want to take up that's the home for you :)

That's the quick answer, the long answer -

pages.ebay.com/securityc...Name=home:f:f:US

Report Another Problem would be the option.

I think the easiest way is just to click the "Report this item" link at the bottom of any active listing you are concerned about. That way it has the item number so all you need is to select the reason and send (or sometimes give an explanation if it's more complicated).

I think I need to just give up on this - the whole scheme / scam is just too prolific!

If you search "trademark (bike, bicycle)" on ebay worldwide you get 91 hits for similar items from numerous sellers. Some sellers are new or have little feedback (waj0506, tingtingting168, osfehwh) while another like the first one has a heap of "antique" type stuff and even feedback for a bike frame (kaihuabazhima - identical text and spelling mistakes to gaogan73). Pictures nearly always have the freebike.net watermark on them. Clearly people are prepared to bid on these auctions and they could even be legit, but they seem completely dodgy to me and there are too many of them to do anything about it.

Someone is trying to target these scammers - love the engrish on their negative feedback:

feedback.ebay.com.au/ws/...t.bid.dont.email

"you are miscellaneous to hand over the kind"

And, from two different sellers (!): "You are the son of the tortoise, your mother is the man's find."

Now that's harsh!

One person can do a lot of damage, even with only a little bit of spare time. ;) Especially when you know what you're doing like those ebay scamkiller guys do. It's not an area I am a specialist in - I'm more of an audio baiter. Yelling at scammers ia a lot of fun, especially when they're paying to call you!

I have reported some of these items, but there are just so many that it is impossible to even find them all. If it is happening in bikes, I have no doubt that there are other areas of the market too (electronics, cameras etc) where fake vendors just appear or trade fairly for a while before submitting all the fake listings. With ebay getting so big now, there are lots of gullible new users looking for a bargain who are going to get burned by this sort of thing.

I ended up getting the seller who was listing in ebay.com.au taken down. My "friends" all won auctions, and after the sale the seller emailed saying that paypal was not possible any more. Finally something blatantly illegal, and ebay took action.

Sadly, you get one of these scammers nuked and another one pops up. New target is "gadjet66" - looks like a hacked account but maybe just a more complicated scam (user located in France but shipping from Hong Kong, not that there is likely to be any shipping!). User has 12 feedback and all of a sudden is buying lots of items from Ebay China to get their rating up. Once rating is over 10, the "selling starts". This one doesn't even mention payment metho

Like all betting strategies, in the long run the math is against you. This way of playing (aka "Martingale") will be successful only in the short term. Yes, you will see it work say, 9 times out of 10, but the winnings from your 9 successful session will not cover your losings from the 1 losing session you are bound to come across sooner or later. Casinos always have the edge on your money rather than the other way aroun

Sometimes, the Masked Guru gets requests to review a 'Guru' or more correctly a 'wannabe guru' who isn't even worth the time to read, let alone paraphrase and email out. This is a partial list, which will, of course, be added to over time.

docsmoney.com

Why are so many people so f'n stupid, oh lets file a lawsuit. Dude call your f'n credit card company and file a chargeback with them. Print out the section and only the section that said PayPal found the claim in your favor and send it to your cc company. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

In fact, almost ANY of the 'systems' you see advertised on Google that don't explicity state what general method they use to make money fall into this camp. Often, they even claim to be free, so how can you lose? Easy. Let me explain. The 'docsmoney.com' is a classic. It's a 'free' system (although you can make a 'donation via paypal' if you like - what a sad case). All he wants is your email address, and then he will "share with you a secret method that will make you thousand's" (sic). Having gotten your email, jokers like this then send you to a page where they tell you to sign up for one of a number of online casinos using their affiliate link (which makes them $50 - $100 or so) and then they attempt to get you to try the useless crappy old 'Martingale system', pretending that it is some sort of new way to 'beat the casinos'. You CAN be sure of 2 things. Your email address will be unusable withing 30 minutes due to the volume of spam you start getting. And if you try to play any casino roulette game with a Martingale system, you'l be bankrupt in a day. Go google the term if you really are so stupid you think anyone would give you a 'free casino beating system'. The kindest thing you can do to little fuckers like 'docsmoney.com' is click his google ad every time you see it. this will cost him a fortune.

Adwords Vouchers Exposed

Yet another 'get google ads free' publication. Save your cash, here's the score:- SIgn up for a Godaddy domain reseller account at WildWestDomains.com . You allegedly get $125 of Google adwords credit, and $200 of MSN ad credits too. Use your 'free first account' to buy a domain for youself, and you'll apparently get the same again, so that's $650 total ad credits. Open 2 Google adwords accounts and use the credits. Cancel your Godaddy account before the end of the 30 day trial period. Make sure to delete all cookies, refresh your IP address, remove google toolbars etc before doing any of this, as Google etc understandably don't much like being scammed.

And of course, keep signing up for 'new' Google accounts (deleting cookies etc first) and they will offer you $50 free credit. Aside from the fact that you will need to employ a personal assistant in order to keep track of all your new adwords accounts, logins etc, if you get caught (sorry - WHEN) expect the full force of Google to descend on your ass, including banning of your IP, the websites you were trying to promote, and that kind of thing. If you really need $50 that bad, how about going out and getting a paper round???

Chris Campbell

This joker runs a bunch of sites including '23andfilthyrich.com' and 'getrichwithchris.com'. He's a 20 something nobody who still lives in Daddy's house and uses pictures of his Dad's cars to try and bolster his ludicrous claims that he is a 'successful internet marketer making $3000 a day'. Judging by his haircut and the clothes he wears in his poorly photoshopped scammy promotional pictures, the Masked Guru doubts he makes $3000 a YEAR. If you sign up for his 'service' you will find nothing inside but a bundle of 'reseller' ebooks, all out of date, and all available for free on the web. Chris Campbell is a classic case of 'fake it till you make it'. Unfortunatley for Chris Campbell, it's unlikely he will ever 'make it', and will most likely end up living with Ma & Pa till he's 50.

Income4dummies

Rubbish. Someone who has read the 'Site Stealer' manual and believed every word of it, including recruiting affiliates on the old '100%' first sale principle. Nothing but an upsell for a bunch of out of date worthless recycled ebooks. You won't be able to get any refunds either because the affiliate sale is via PayPal, and they rarely enforce refunds against electronic products.

Liz Tomey

Small time player, been around a couple of years, pumps out about 1 ebook a week on the usual suspects (resell rights, 'secrets' of google ads etc). her main site is a blog, where you can see how well she is doing, because she offers to 'review your site or product on her blog for $40'. Now THAT'S success!

Site Swiper

This is the new name for 'Site Stealer', which I have already reviewed. Changing the name doesn't change the idea which is.. well, read it now by signing up! ,

was like I found a few diamonds in the rough. You can visit probably the best site I have come across below and see what you think. They do charge a minimal fee for access to their programs, which is to be expected for any legitimate company that actually has people on staff who are dedicated to helping you get started.

What a friendly group of people! Anyway, if you do decide you are interested in the program below, I advise you to join quickly, as the owners have informed me that they are getting so many new members by word of mouth referrals, that they will be closing off membership completely over the next few weeks. (By the way, you didn't hear this from me!) They don't have a large enough staff to accommodate many more people, and they are dedicated to providing excellent service to each person.

The wealth of information on this site is vast so you don't want to miss out! They actually supply you with almost all of the ebooks that are being sold as get rich quick schemes in one package - plus they show you how to make multiple streams of income via the internet.

In the early 1990s, Taiwan-based motherboard manufacturers had not yet established their leading positions in the computer hardware business. Any new Intel processors would have been supplied to better established companies like IBM first, and the Taiwanese companies would be forced to wait for approximately six months after javascript:void(0)
IBM received their engineering prototypes. [6]

When the Intel 486 was released as engineering samples, ASUS decided to design its own 486 motherboard without having a 486 processor engineering sample on site, using only the technical details published by Intel and the experience they gained while making the 386 compatible motherboards. When ASUS finalized its 486 motherboard prototype, they took it to Intel's base in Taiwan for testing. Unsurprisingly, there was not a formal greeting when they arrived. It turned out that Intel's own 486 motherboard prototype had encountered design flaws, and Intel's engineers were rectifying it. The ASUS founders exercised their experience with the 486 and had a look at Intel's malfunctioning motherboard. Their solution worked, to the Intel engineers' surprise. Intel then tested the ASUS prototype, which functioned perfectly. This marked the beginning of an informal relationship between the two companies – ASUS now receives Intel engineering samples ahead of its competitors.
